When I started preparing for the talk last year I intended to solely focus on overcoming our fears but whilst doing more research I came across Brene Brown's amazing video 'the power of vulnerability' on TED.
Many of you will not even like the WORD shame but Brene defines shame simply as 'the intensely painful feeling or experience of believing that we are flawed and therefore unworthy of love and belonging'.
Whilst sharing one of my own truly shameful experiences as an inexperienced coach in 2008 the penny dropped. Yes, shame IS something we ALL feel, in different places and at different times. And it's truly powerful in keeping us in our places, keeping our mouths shut.
Shame kills creativity, learning and innovation.
The good news is that we are sick of feeling ashamed and holding ourselves back. We are all yearning for more courage.
